Yanna is a geographer and interdisciplinary remote sensing and earth observation scientist. Her research interests lie in the interface where the physical world interacts with people, and she enjoys using her skills to understand global changes to support management of emerging risks.
She joined PML as part of the Earth Observation Science and Applications team and is currently working on the project FOCUS (Future States of the global Coastal ocean: Understanding for Solutions).
Previously, Yanna completed her PhD at the University of Southampton where she used an interdisciplinary approach combining remote sensing with oceanography and ecology to improve detection and monitoring of sargassum macroalgae blooms and beach landings in the Tropical Atlantic region.
