Investing in the future: new careers in marine autonomy and robotics

PML has invested heavily in its marine autonomous capabilities in recent years, with further backing in the recruitment of three new positions to deliver our digital science strategy.  

Digital innovation is core to PML’s future strategy and marine autonomous systems will be a key enabler to deliver future net-zero marine scientific observations. 

We have opened three brand-new positions in the field of digital innovation, to support our aspirations of a fully integrated autonomous coastal observing system.

The new positions include: 

 

PML Operations at Sea Manager 
PML is seeking a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of delivering safe and effective operations at sea, including platform deployment and vessel management. 
Location: Plymouth Marine Laboratory 
Position: Full time open ended 
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 dependent on experience

Marine Robotics Technologist 
This role will require the day-to-day leadership and mentoring of a group of three junior technicians deploying the NCCA’s autonomous capability to deliver PML’s digital strategy.  
Location: Plymouth Marine Laboratory 
Position: Full time open ended 
Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 dependent on experience

A fantastic opportunity to join the growing team of marine robotics technologists working in the NCCA.

Salary: £27,000 - £33,000 dependent on experience
