The Ocean Conference

The high-level United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development will be convened at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 5 to 9 June 2017, coinciding with World Oceans Day, to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14.
The Conference aims to facilitate reversing the decline in the health of our ocean for people, planet and prosperity. It will be solutions-focused with engagement from all.
PML scientists will have a presence at the Ocean Conference through a number of activities, including:
- the Partnership Dialogue on “Minimizing and addressing ocean acidification” where PML's Dr Carol Turley will act as Moderator. Information on Partnership Dialogues can be found here.
- an exhibition stand at the UN headquarters hosting the conference;
- the UK side event where PML is an organising partner alongside others.
Within the framework of the 2030 Agenda targeting Goal 14, stakeholders can make voluntary commitments. PML’s commitment (#OceanAction14995) can be found here.
