Silvia landed her first job in Remote Sensing in 2013, when she joined PML as a Data Analyst for the NERC Earth Observation Data Acquisition and Analysis Service (NEODAAS). Since 2016, she has worked as an Earth Observation Scientist for the Earth Observations Science & Applications (EOSA) group.

Most of her work has focused on the assessment and development of algorithms for ocean-colour products, and their potential for the detection of climate change-driven trends in ocean colour. Other research interests include the remote sensing of coastal environments, and the study of water quality indicators such as eutrophication and harmful algal blooms.

Silvia holds a BSc in Theoretical Physics from the University of Salamanca (Spain), and a MSc in Cosmology and Particle Physics from the same university. She spent her early-career years working in the detection of gravitational waves and dark matter using high-energy telescopes. Prior to her role at PML, Silvia worked as scientific consultant for a variety of R&D startups while completing a BSc in Computer Science & AI at UNED Madrid.
