In a ranking recently published, PML has been graded 6th out of 100 in the ‘2014 International Center for Climate Governance (ICCG) Climate Think Tank Ranking’, an analysis created to recognize the excellence of the main institutions – referred to as think tanks by the ICCG - addressing climate issues worldwide.

The results show that PML was the highest ranking UK organisation in the survey using the standardized ranking method, which measured each individual think tank’s efficiency in per capita and researcher terms.

Moreover, the ICCG ranking assesses the performance of a think tank in conducting high quality research and its role in influencing climate-related and energy policy. What sets this ranking apart from others is that it is based on a solid methodology and on a wide set of statistical indicators, including activities, publications and dissemination.

PML Chief Executive Professor Steve de Mora commented:

“We are absolutely thrilled to be classed as the top UK organisation in the ICCG Climate Think Tank Ranking, particularly as over 244 institutes were scrutinised to compile these results. It is a tremendous accolade for our world-class research and its relevance to policy decisions to be recognised in this way, along with so many other excellent institutes from around the world”.

In addition to the 2014 Think Tank Award, the ICCG also created the ‘Think Tank Map’, launched in 2011 as a platform which aims to provide a complete overview of every active think tank in the field of climate change economics and policy. This instrument will make it possible to understand where the research organizations working on climate change are based and their activities.

The 2014 Think Tank Award goes to the Woods Hole Research Center who came 1st in the ranking. The award ceremony for the top think tank 2014 will be held in Milan in Autumn 2015.
