This ISO Occupational Health Standard has been developed to help organizations to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better, safer working conditions. Obtaining the certification follows a period of intensive engagement among staff, and further improvement of PML’s already high standards of H&S, including three assessments over the last 6 months. Health and Safety is now even more firmly embedded in all aspects of PML and PML Applications’ activities, with a comprehensive and regular training programme for staff and students, installation of additional H&S equipment, a laboratory managers’ forum for exchange of ideas and discussion of issues, continuous risk assessments and the creation of a well-being room.

It is the shared commitment to maintain high standards, from complete buy-in of the Boards and Executive through to all members of PML and PML Applications’ teams, that ensures we meet the rigorous conditions required to gain certification to ISO 45001”, said delighted PML group Chief Executive Professor Stephen de Mora. “We have scrutinized all of our systems, policies, working practices and codes of practice within the two organizations and made improvements where needed. We are now confident that our excellent reputation for scientific research is underpinned by the best possible approach to Health and Safety of our staff and visitors”, he added.

PML and PML Applications Ltd chose Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), the world-leading, independent provider of Business Assurance services as the accredited Certification Body to assess and certify them to ISO45001:2018, following successfully gaining  Certification of their Business Management Systems to ISO9001:2015.
