Rapid health assessments
There is an increasing global awareness that the environment
plays an essential role in ensuring good human health. Likewise, a
tremendously diverse range of human activities impacts upon coastal
and marine ecosystems. A quick and cost effective method is
necessary for detecting, monitoring and assessing impacts of human
activities in aquatic ecosystems and for detecting threats from the
environment to human health and well-being.
PML has developed a set of tools called RAMP (Rapid Assessment
of Marine Pollution) which allows communities, scientists and
environmental managers to determine ecological status, take action
to protect or restore the environment and work towards sustainable
development. These include rapid, simple chemical measurements,
bioassays, biomarkers, socio-economic and heath assessment methods
which are currently being used by local communities, scientists and
managers in over 30 countries.

- Rapid Assessment and Montioring of Pollution
(RAMP)
RAMP is a pragmatic, cost-effective approach
for detecting, monitoring and assessing impacts of human activities
in aquatic ecosystems. RAMP provides a means of detecting threats
from the environment to human health and well-being.
