City scientist receives MBE
28th June 2007
We are delighted to announce that Dr Robert Huggins, Technical
Manager for i-GPeninsula, has recently been awarded a MBE for his
services to the environment.
Dr Huggins commented on the honour: “This is a great and
unexpected honour of which I am very proud. It comes after 30 years
of working with environmental scientists and I know that they all
deserve awards for their important work.”
Robert has dedicated his working life to issues concerned with
the environment and joined the newly established i-GPeninsula
project to further develop environmentally-based scientific
research into commercially viable technology, predominantly at
Plymouth Marine Laboratory and the Environment Agency.
The i-GPeninsula project is hosted at Plymouth Marine Laboratory
in collaboration with the Environment Agency and Casix. Supporters
of the successful 3-year bid included the South West Regional
Development Agency (SWRDA), Business Link, Marine South West,
BioApproaches SW, South West Innovation Relay Centre (SWIRC) and
the National Marine Aquarium (NMA).
