RAMPing up monitoring in the Guangxi region of China
18 November 2011

PML scientists welcomed a delegation from the
Guangxi region of China this week to discuss the establishment of
marine monitoring along the Guangxi coastline, based on PML’s
RAMP (Rapid Assessment and Monitoring of
Pollution) approach, and in light of developments to build
trade links with the Southeast Asian nations to the west and
increased industrial activities.
The Guangxi coastline features large areas of
mangrove as well as a significant aquaculture industry and
therefore, the pollution and fisheries challenges faced by
neighbouring provinces are of concern.
