Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
visit
17th February 2011
Today a high-level delegation from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences
Research Council (BBSRC) are visiting PML to discuss current
and future collaborations. These include the YASMIN project, which
has been researching the yield potential of antioxidants and
sunscreens in microalgae, and a project looking into cost effective
production of biodiesel from marine microbes.
Also under discussion will be the Collaborative Awards in
Science and Engineering (CASE) studentships, which allow students
to receive high quality research training in collaboration with an
industrial partner. They are 4-year doctoral training grants for
top quality bioscience graduates to undertake research (leading to
a PhD) on a subject selected and supervised jointly by academic and
industrial partners.
