Since 2002 PML has operated as an independent company, limited
by guarantee, with charitable
status and an established Collaborative Centre of
the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
PML’s charitable objects are:
To carry out research in environmental
science and technology, including marine and estuarine
environmental science and technology, and disseminate results of
such research and data and ideas generated in the course of or in
connection with such research for the benefit of the public
and to advance public education in the principles and
practice of such science and technology.
