Marine Primary Production: Model Parameters


The aim of this project is to improve our ability to estimate the growth of ocean phytoplankton using data collected by instruments carried on satellites. 

The results of this project will be important for various future applications, including study of the ocean carbon cycle. Calculation of phytoplankton growth requires two parameters describing their photosynthetic response. It is the specific aim of the project to estimate these two parameters using remotely-sensed data.

PML is leading this project, utilising our large and highly experienced team of remote sensing scientists, processing satellite data and developing new techniques and products for remotely monitoring the marine environment.
