Silvana studied Mathematics and Computer Science in Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. There, she worked for three and a half years, developing a new video surveillance software, able to detect abnormal scenes.

Specialising in image processing, Silvana moved to UK to work at PML as an Earth Observation Data Analyst, to be part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Earth Observation Data Acquisition and Analysis Service (NEODAAS) and Climate Change Initative (CCI) projects.
