Guy previously read Navigation and Maritime Science at University of Plymouth where he achieved a 2:1 with honours. During these three years he studied oceanography, meteorology and navigation techniques, culminating in a final year dissertation surrounding the biogeochemistry of copper in the River Tamar. Guy now currently reads Applied Marine Science at University of Plymouth where his MRes project is with PML within the Algal Biotechnology and Innovation Centre.

Key Projects

Payload development for OpenROV to detect novel red and infrared fluorescent proteins. Through the means of the revolutionary OpenROV, access to parts of the ocean previously off limits can now be explored, including areas of coral reef. Guy's developed ROV will utilise ultra-bright LEDs to excite proteins causing them to fluoresce and detect fluorescence through filtered optics. A map will be created of areas of coral reef displaying the abundance of proteins found by stitching pictures taken from video.
